Jul 8, 2025 | Corporate News

Gold Coin China, an Aboitiz Foods company, is steadfast in its commitment to the education sector through “Project EduCare,” which primarily focuses on promoting learning while nurturing students’ holistic needs. On May 26 and 29, 2025, Gold Coin visited the students of Baimao Primary School in Guangxi and Hungtian Primary School in Zhangzhou, respectively, for a donation turnover ceremony.

During the event, Aboitiz Foods team members from China and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team turned over 51,000 CNY worth of school supplies, computers, uniforms, and other learning materials to the students.

Chen Shuwei, a Longkou Border Police Officer, expressed his gratitude to the organization for its support, “Thanks to the joint efforts of society and various organizations, more and more compassionate forces are coming together. This allows children to feel the warmth and care of the community. We hope that more caring individuals and enterprises will turn their attention to Sanjiang and help brighten the future of its children through charity and love.”

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What is Project EduCare and what does it stand for?
Project EduCare is Aboitiz Foods’ regional education initiative, implemented through Gold Coin China, that promotes quality learning while addressing students’ holistic needs. It operates on the belief that education is inseparable from empathy and inclusion. Programs supported under EduCare span a wide range of interventions — from digital learning tools and school infrastructure to scholarships, teacher development, and special education programs — with the goal of creating meaningful, lasting impact in underserved communities across Asia.

2. Which schools were visited and what was provided?
Two schools benefited from the May 2025 donation ceremonies: Baimao Primary School in Guangxi, visited on May 26, and Hungtian Primary School in Zhangzhou, visited on May 29. A combined 51,000 CNY worth of support was delivered, including school supplies, computers, uniforms, and other learning materials. Both schools serve communities where access to quality educational resources is limited, making the donations practically significant for students’ day-to-day learning experiences.

3. Why do computers and digital tools feature prominently in these donations?
Digital literacy is increasingly foundational to educational and economic opportunity, yet students in underserved rural communities are often the last to gain access to technology. Providing computers directly addresses this gap, equipping children with tools that open up broader learning possibilities — from online resources to skills that will be relevant throughout their education and working lives. Including digital resources alongside basic supplies signals a commitment to preparing students for the modern world, not just meeting immediate material needs.

4. What does community collaboration add to this type of initiative?
The involvement of local figures — such as a border police officer who publicly expressed gratitude and called on more organizations to invest in the region’s children — reflects how corporate giving gains amplification and trust when it connects with the broader community. When local authorities, community leaders, and organizations unite around education, it signals to families and children that their wellbeing is a shared priority, not a corporate transaction. This collective endorsement strengthens both the reach and the perceived legitimacy of the support.

5. How does investing in education align with a food and agribusiness company’s mission?
At first glance, education and animal feed may seem unrelated, but both are expressions of the same underlying purpose: nourishing communities so they can thrive. Children who receive better education develop into more capable, economically resilient adults — contributing to stronger local communities and more productive agricultural sectors over time. For a company whose purpose is to sustainably feed Asia’s growth, investing in the next generation’s education is a direct and meaningful extension of that mission beyond the farm gate.
